FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

The answers people ask for most, in one place — about the coin, the wallet and the network behind both.

What is Factor?

Factor is a decentralized digital currency that runs on a peer-to-peer network secured by its users. Every transfer is recorded on a public ledger anyone can verify through the Factor Explorer — no banks, no intermediaries, no permission needed.

How do I get a Factor wallet?

Download the native wallet for Windows, macOS or Linux from the Download section. Installation takes under a minute, and the wallet generates your keys locally the first time you open it.

Where are my keys and funds stored?

Your keys are generated and stored only on your own device, encrypted by your wallet. They are never uploaded to any server, which means you — and only you — can access and move your funds. Always keep a backup of your wallet file.

What happens if I lose my wallet file or my password?

Because only you hold your keys, nobody can restore them for you. If the wallet file is gone and you have no backup, the funds in it are unrecoverable. Store a backup somewhere safe before you move any value.

How many Factor coins exist?

The network is live with 1,225,236.46 FACT currently in circulation, and the max supply is dynamic — new coins enter circulation only as block rewards paid to miners. Burned coins, like the 14.79 FACT already destroyed, permanently reduce supply.

How can I earn Factor?

The network is secured by miners who validate transactions and solve blocks. Each solved block currently pays a reward of 5.76 FACT, and the community also runs bounty programs — 1,409 bounties have been solved so far.

How fast are Factor transactions, and what do they cost?

Transfers are built for speed and low cost: transactions confirm in seconds with fees kept as low as the protocol allows. The current network hashrate of over 3.9 million MH/s keeps confirmations stable and secure.

Can a Factor payment be reversed or blocked?

No. Once a transfer is confirmed it is part of the public ledger and cannot be undone, frozen or censored by anyone — not by us, not by a bank. Send only to an address you have checked yourself.

Who runs the Factor network?

Nobody owns it. The network is kept alive by the miners, developers and users who run it, and the rules are set in open code that anyone can read. Changes are proposed and argued in the open, the same way every other decision on a public ledger is made.

What is the Factor Explorer?

The Explorer is the public search tool for the ledger. It shows every block, every transaction and the live state of the network — supply, difficulty, hashrate and block count — so you can verify anything without trusting anyone.

Is Factor open source? Can I verify it myself?

Yes. The code is fully open source and the entire ledger is public, so anyone can audit the protocol, check supply, and follow every transaction in real time through the Factor Explorer.
